Steal a helm, but no charisma at all!

I'm playing through again, this time as a thief for House Redoran. I'm still
early on (level 9) and have just gotten the quest to get the Founder's Helm
from the jerk in Balmora at the Eight Plates. I've been instructed to get
the helm from him, but my Speechcraft is terrible (even though Jink is
pretty, she ain't got no way with people) and I can't just attack him
outright lest I "shame House Redoran" into becoming a laughingstock in the
big House parties (music by Kid 'n' Play) in Vivec at the turn of the
year...

So what can I do? I tried three Telvanni Bug Musks but that only got me up
to a 65% "he-likes-me" rating, which I immediately blew trying to taunt him
into fighting me. Can I cast fatigue spells on him without it being an
aggressive action? Help!

Bribe, bribe, bribe, bribe. You only need to get him up to 75.

Much less than it takes to admire. Bribary is about the only way to make
people like you if you have a low personality.

Unfortunately this part of the guide is wrong.

It does actually depend on the Speechcraft skill.

It does actually depend on the Speechcraft skill.

I can confirm that as recently I got an increase to Speechcraft right
after bribing someone.
