Imperial Cult Vs. Tribunal Temple

Hey Guys,

As you may or may not know, I am currently trying to play Morrowind with a
pure mage right now. I have clawed my way to level 5!

Anyways, I decided to do some Imperial Cult quests and some Tribunal Temple
quests because I've never done them before. I was wondering, since these
are two opposed religions, is it possible to rise in rank in both factions?
Now, I know you can't rise to Master in both Fighter's Guild and Thieves
guild. Is it the same thing with Imperial Cult and Tribunal? If it is,
then I'm gonna go with Imperial Cult. That dang Tribunal Temple has me
going to all these remote places, doing these pilgrimages before even giving
me a real assingment. I can't believe that they want me to go inside
Ghostfence as a pilgrimage! How can a low level mage even survive that?

Thanks in advance,

-John

You can rise to the top of both religious factions at the same time. I
suggest doing tasks somewhat alternating between the two as pleasing
one faction will displease the other. Most of my characters belong to
one or both factions as I like playing a "nice" character most of the
time.

Pure mages use conjuration, I am sure. Let other creatures fight for
you, and perhaps consider using some bound weapon. (You WILL run into
some creatures that cannot be taken down with fireballs, snowballs and
shockballs. As well as a lot of creatures with a high REFLECT.)

*** A slgiht spoiler, I suppose. ***

Since the other part of your post has been answered, I''d just answer
this. It's really not as bad as it sounds. It's only just inside the
fence so even as level one character could probably do it. If you meet
trouble you can always fun for it.

Actually I've been head of all 4 of those guilds before - it's simply
not that difficult. There is a fork in the quest tree in the later
Fighters' Guild quests where you can play 'good' or 'evil' and one of
the quests does involve killing Thieves' Guild members BUT if you
become head of the Thieves' Guild FIRST it's no problem heading both
guilds.

You can Not head the Imperial Cult. You can only rise to a rank just
below priest. At that time you are told that you can not be promoted
because you can not devote all your time to the cult.
As for the Fighters and Thieves guilds I don't think you have to be
guild master of the Thieves' guild before finishing the Fighter's guild
quests.

That one isn't quite that difficult. The shrine behind the main temple
(below the big flying rock) gives you half-a-day's worth of levitation
in exchange for a small potion of same.

You just *fly* to Ghostgate, keeping waaaay overhead of the bad,
disease- and blight-ridden nasties, pop down to the Shrine, get yer
blessing and then fly home.

The only hassle is them gol-durned flying rats (Cliff Racers), who will
attempt to peck you out of the skies. But apart from them, easy as...

or simply turn invisible and walk all the way to the shrine :)
if they cant see you, they cant attack

all it realy depends on is where you are traning alteration or ilussion

where you fly or use invisibility - just bring alot of potions to regenerate
your spell points and this quest isnt realy a problem at all if you know
where the shrine is

Ah, thanks guys! I've implemented many of your techniques and now I've
finally completed all the pilgrimages. Also, I've reach level 8. Not quite
a nice plateau, but getting there. Lately, I find that I have been casting
"Mark", warping to the nearest Tribunal or Imperial Shrine to regenerate my
magicka and casting "Recall". It seems to be the only way I can get by as a
magic user. Somewhat of a hassle, but I'm definitely getting the hang of
it!

Thanks again,

John

the little warp trick works - but personaly I just Make potions to replenish
my mana

think it some beries and void salts - to makes a nice little 0.1 weight mana
potion, and the ingrediences I simply buy in the mage guild in balmora :).

Compaired to trying to find and buy strong mana potions from an alchemist it
is cheap, the potions weight a lot less, and with advanced equipment and
high skill they become more poverfull then strong mana potions

and the bedst part, as alchemy is a mage skill traning it by making potions
can get you a few levels very quick

Here's a tip for getting a set of master's alchemy gear without
spending big bikkies or thieving it from Caldera:

There's a set in a crate in Pinsun cave, south of Vos. Go in, first
left, up the steps and look around. In the meantime, get journeyman's
gear ASAP; the apprentice stuff is crap. If you're going to practice
alchemy, you may as well get something usable out of it.

well I dont realy remember where I got my full grandmaster alchemy set -
mostly playing Oblivion right now - think I found some of it in some cave/
stronghold and bought the rest

as for traning alchemy, it doesnt realy matter if you are making crap
potions just for traning :), the thing is if you are doing it the way I
normaly do, it is one of the few skills where you actualy make money traning
it all the way to 100

simply go to the mage guild in balmore and by some cheap componets, the
thing is you can keep buying the components for a drain stamina (I think it
is) for around 5 gold / potion, lets get 100 of these, then simply make the
100 potions, well when you start you will proberly only make around 30-40
and fail with the rest, then walk out of the mage guild and find the
alchemist (have 3000 gold as base money :) )and sell your crap potions for
more gold then you spend buying the ingredience

repeat this a few times, and you will make a lot of gold and max your
alchemy skill in no time - (and even gain a few levels if alchemy is one of
your primary/secondary skills)

making money and ganing levels as a mage is almost to easy :)

If you dislike cliff racers, travel with Invisibility. Then they will
ignor you. Personally, I use them to practice my secondary combat
skills. Now that I have Marksman installed, they are often breathing
fire and heal themselves, so they are more 'interesting'.
