The Underground is a huge mod with many involved quests. It can be
found at http://qarl.rpgmods2.com. Be sure to follow the author's
instructions in the readme. SAVE OFTEN. Qarl also has a complete
walkthrough that can be found on his site. It can be helpful if you get
stuck. SAVE OFTEN.
The main quest involves finding a powerful ring, the Ring of
Awareness, and saving the world from a Nameless Evil. The ring is very
powerful. You have the choice at one point of taking the evil path. There
are lots of new and different characters and monsters. Some high end armor
and weapons and new clothes. Remember to cast mark at different locations
so you can haul stuff home. Have your companion wait for you. There are a
lot of very challenging fights. Your character should probably be about
level 30. SAVE OFTEN.
You wander into the sewers of Balmora and eventually meet a vampire who
will become your companion. (This mod does not conflict with Balmora
Expansion.) The vampire will be either male or female, depending on the sex
of your character. There is an option for romance, if you choose it. This
character becomes your companion. You do not have to become a vampire
although you can if you wish. It is a good idea however, to have some
potions of cure common disease, because you can become infected by fighting
with various creatures. Other good potions, spells, scrolls, or CE items
that will come in handy are levitation, night eye, and telekinesis. It is
helpful to have Emma's VTA Travel Service and mark and recall. You should
also have some cash.
There is a club in the sewers,The Underground. Your vampire companion
takes you there near the beginning of the mod. You have to buy him/her some
very expensive blood or you can't continue. The inhabitants of the club are
mostly vampires with a few other creatures thrown in. The bartender is an
Ogrim, who keeps everything in order. The inhabitants are tolerant of your
character.
This mod offers a lot of hours of gameplay. I'd say it is definitely
worth trying. There are a couple of things that might be negatives for some
people. This is an adult mod: nudity, language, situations. There is a lot
of very loud music. I found this very annoying, but I like to play without
any music. It can be turned off with the options menu. This is a very
interesting and challenging mod that offers something new for those of us
who have been playing Morrowind for a long time.

This is a great mod. I've played through the underground 1 and have a
copy of TU2 which is still in beta.

You can also download this mod at Morrrowind Summit. I see there is also a

Unfortunately all that link led me to was a black page with the word 'The'
in big red letters - and a place holder for a missing image. If I clicked
on the placeholder, I got a description but all the images were missing.

<shrug>

I've enjoyed Garl's work in the past. And when I decide to re-install
morrowind, I hope the website will be in functioning order. Until then I've
bookmarked what I can see and will visit again in the future.

Thanks for the heads-up.

When I clicked on the placeholder, it took me to Qarl's page. I had a
lot of trouble getting a download though. Maybe all five or so of us
that post here were all trying at the same time!

Thanks for the post, Ellen. I have put the mod in my game. But, as I
just had to reinstall windows, reinstall MW and was ready to change my
mod mix anyway, it will be a while before I am high enough level to
play it.

I like the new music, at least so far.

First post finally.... don't give up on MW. Even though I've not posted,
I've been reading this group for the past year or so, and have
benefitted hugely from previous posts by you "five or so" regular
posters. Thanks for all the insights.

"Mary Lou the Happy Princess" is currently level 68, head of mages,
fighters, morag tong, telvanni and imperial cult, and seeking more
worlds to conquer before beginning the blades quest. No mods tried yet,
but one of these days, if MW ceases to enthrall as it has so far, I
might try one.

When you click on the link it'll take you to a black page with "the"
in red and a broken picture link. That is what you need to click.
